Chain Gangs

Learn and practice 'through-and-off'

Tuesday night chain gangs, alternate fortnightly with our TT events, starting from the Galton Arms in Himbleton with the Plough at Tibberton as a backup. Our chain gangs are a fast ride around a flat loop with a focus on speed and close, safe group riding. We welcome non-DCC members to come and see if the club is for them before joining. Rehydration at the pub afterwards is encouraged.

Two groups:

  • The A group led by Rikky and Marcus for strong riders with experience of racing. This will start off as a chain gang format and may switch to a team TT as the ride progresses and is likely to average over 24-25mph depending on the group.

  • The B group led by Paul or another experienced club rider at a steadier pace, focussed on getting a good rotation in the group.

Important:

This ride may be cancelled in the event of bad weather, or the location moved due to road works. For cancellation notices, please check our Facebook Page before setting off.

The safety of you and the riders around you is vital – you MUST be competent riding in a fast, close group, and be able to hold a consistent line and ride predictably. If that doesn’t apply to you, please look in to getting some coaching, and build up from slower group rides.

There are a couple of sections of the route where the road narrows or gravel may be present. Be prepared to briefly single out and slow down.
Helmets are mandatory. If you’re riding to- and from, lights are advisable. NO aerobars or TT bikes.

Unlike our other rides, if you get dropped the group will not wait for you – but if that happens you can recover and rejoin on the next lap.
