Do I need British Cycling Membership to join DCC?

No. But all riders are recommended to have 3rd party liability insurance to cover you for being sued by a driver or fellow-rider’s insurance company.

When you join DCC via the British Cycling webpage, you are also invited to join British Cycling at a reduced rate.  If you join British Cycling as an active ride member, active silver member or active gold member this gives you third party liability insurance cover and legal support via their essential cover for leisure sportive and affiliated club rider cover for third party claims against you for up to £15m.  All other memberships with British Cycling do not provide insurance, e.g active fan and active bronze.

You are also able to take out your own insurance policy with alternative providers to obtain the level of cover required if you prefer.

Please see British Cycling membership benefits page for more details.
