26 august 2023
Looking for a new and exciting challenge this summer?
Then look no further than our Hanbury Time Trial on Saturday 26th August where trial riders will be testing either their state-of-the-art or pride-and-joy vintage bikes against the clock. The vintage bike riders will have their own category but you can bet there be interesting comparisons with those on more modern counterparts. So who will be the quickest riders? Well, come along and find out.
In effect, on the day we have a normal time trial and a vintage time trial. The CTT website shows 10am start time but on the day, the ‘normal’ time trialists will start first, to be followed by the riders on vintage bikes. Hanbury Village Hall will be the centre of action for signing-on and post-ride refreshments, etc.
The event is run under the modern day CTT regulations so we will unfortunately have to forego the classic dead turn in the road and you will also need a modern road bike style helmet and working front and rear lights.
That means no aero kit (tri-bars etc), TT bikes or skin suits.
Normal modern day club ride kit (jersey, bibs, etc) is permitted. Although, ideally you will get into the spirit of the event and wear a classic merino wool jersey!
It’s a 1980’s or older period correct bike that should have the following: –
- Ideally a steel frameset
- Down tube, stem mounted or bar end non-indexed shift levers
- If not derailleur gears then either a 3/4 speed internal geared hub or fixed gears.
- Ideally the brake cables must pass over the top of the handlebars, period hidden cables are permitted.
- No integrated brake and shift levers
- Flat pedals with or without toe clips
- No aero bars
- No modern wheel sets
- No disc wheels
Modern reproductions of vintage bikes may be accepted, please contact the organiser with details of the bike you would like to enter.
Juvenile – Junior – Espoir – Senior – Veteran – Para
